Last year Bangkok found an unlikely hero in the shape of one of the most iconic pop stars of our time; Boy George.
At a time when Bangkok was in despair, deep in heavy protests & riots which were beyond the average persons control, people cancelled their holidays to Thailand, DJ’s & bands cancelled performances & pretty much everything was stopped – Boy George decided he was still going to come to Bangkok & give people a party they wouldn’t forget.
There was a strict midnight curfew imposed upon the city (which had just been increased by 3 hours from 9pm!) & people had been couped up at home for weeks. No one could believe it when we announced that George was still going to come despite all the craziness.
We arrived at 8.30PM to an already packed crowd who were ready to let off some serious steam. George stepped up at 9pm & the next 2 hours did not disappoint…
We’ll never forget this night; not only did George turn up & play, but everyone who had enough of the nonsense came down & went nuts, also all local media helped us to get the message out that the part was still going ahead.
BOY GEORGE makes his very welcome return to Bed on Thursday 12th March 2011.
