This month we join forces with Wrong Disco (Dj Will and Baptiste). Expect nothing less than a night filled with quality music from one of most experienced and forward thinking acts in Bangkok . Rising beyond the stereotypes, their unique sets don’t conform to formulas and push the boundaries of House and Techno.
About Wrong Disco:
Guillaume POPINEAU aka DJ Will
Beginning his DJ experiments in Strasbourg, France, in the mid-90s, DJ Will held parties at different bars and was a resident DJ on a local radio show dedicated to house music. His music taste grew to include different genres and display versatility in his mixes.
After moving to Bangkok in 2003, he pursued his career by spinning in different clubs, bars and cultural events in Bangkok,
He hosted in 2005 the popular-proven ï‚“Club Professionalsï‚”, weekly DJ-contest party at Cafe Democ and created ï‚“Wrong Discoï‚” in 2006 to introduce and promote new music of all kinds.
Then DJ resident at Club Culture, a Bangkok club renowned for its exigent music policy, he also held parties at 808, Glow Club and Club Ibiza Bangkok as well as different cultural events. Club Culture also saw DJ Will opening for different A-list DJï‚’s such as Ken Ishii, Audio Jack, Marco Bailey…
Culture One, the only major electronic music festival ever held in Bangkok, saw him play twice consecutively in 2009 and 2010.
Since he started mixing, DJ Will got a point to be versatile and touch to different kind of music: deep house, house, drumï‚’nï‚’bass, techno, minimal, hip-hop and everything in between.
DJ Baptiste MAUERHAN
French sound artist now based in Bangkok, Baptiste Mauerhan started to get into music producing and DJï‚’ing in 1998 when he worked as an advertising programmer for the Paris-based DJ station Radio FG.
He released tracks on the French techno label Chronobrain, owned by Chris Carrier, and wrote various soundtracks for a TV series ï‚“Da Boxï‚” shown on French Cable TV, MCM. He also signed a downtempo song ï‚“Northbridgeï‚” on F-Communication (French renown DJ Laurent Garnierï‚’s label)
In 2002, he graduated as a sound engineer in Paris and got more into sound design for videos and short films with the director Julien David. Several of their works were shown on French TV network Canal+.Since in Bangkok in 2006, Baptiste performs more as a DJ and is resident with DJ Will and VJ Jung-Chul Hur for Wrong Disco party monthly at Club Culture and has played his own tracks live with Jay Montonn.Baptiste is also regularly giving workshops and lectures in several universities about sound design and software especially on Logic studio and Ableton Live.
